2 Weeks!

Emma went to her two week check up today. Chance's sister works at our pediatrician's office so it was nice to see a friendly face and have her show off our daughter. :) Emma now weighs 8lbs 5oz! We are so proud of her for eating so well! She still is 21 inches long so she must be just getting fat. :) Everyone at the doctor's office thought she was adorable, we have to agree. Emma loves to suck on anything and everything and has the funniest obsession with her tongue. She does not like her baths at all so we try to make them quick because she screams the whole time. But for the most part she is a great baby and we are so happy to have her with us. I never thought I could love something so much. I love being a mommy.
Thanks to both of my sister-in-laws for taking such cute pics. Val took some this past Saturday and then Chance's sister Summer took some as well. Here are some pics for all to enjoy!

Val took a lot more pics but I couldn't figure out how to get them from facebook to here, so there are more on facebook or on her photography blog. Thanks Val!

The rest were taken by Summer...

Check it out

We had a professional photographer come in today and take pics of our little one. Basically they do the pictures for free but then offer you different packages if you want. But since I am an IHC employee we got one 8X10 for free. Yeah! They turned out really nice. To view them go to this website: bellababyphotography.com and enter the password which is 0612emmarasmussen Enjoy!

LIttle Emma

Here are some pics of our little one for all to see. Alot are on my facebook page too. Emma came at 2 o'clock this morning after a long labor. Thank goodness for epidurals or I would have never survived. I started having contractions at work on Thursday night, they continued but were inconsistant. We didn't end up going to the hospital till 3 on Friday, I just mainly went hoping to get an epidural so I could sleep, which didn't really happen. She progressed slowly but surely. Towards the end they were going to let her head descend on its own but she started to get naughty and was having decelerations in her heart rate, indicating stress. So the doctor came and delivered her with forceps, which was kind of nice cuz I only had to push for five to ten minutes. Its the craziest thing looking at her and knowing just moments ago she was inside of you. Its crazy carrying for nine months and never knowing what she acctually looks like until the blessed delivery day. But its one of the most amazing feelings in the world to know that she is ours and will be with us forever. She is so cute and we are so lucky everything went so perfect and she has all of her parts, etc. Every birth is seriously a miracle. Emma is eating well and pooping and peeing like we want her to, its funny that that's all she knows how to do besides melt our hearts. :) Thank you to all of the visitors and for the many more to come. Here are some pictures of our little angel:
Right after birth
She got some oxygen. She sounded kind of junky for a while, but they sucked out some amniotic fluid which did the trick.
The proud daddy.
Our little family.
Mommy and daughter (I think she looks more like Chance)

Our nurse taking the temp...
After they cleaned her up a little bit...
Her first bath, she looks like she is enjoying it.
They did her hair so cute! Did I mention all of the hair, definatly a Rasmussen trait.
Getting her footprints done.
Today, she still is adorable. :)

The waiting game...

Its a good thing I'm working full time still and keeping extra busy cuz otherwise I would be waiting at home full of anxiety wondering when in the world is this baby going to come. I went to the doctor's yesterday. He told me I am dilated to a 2 (which is progress for me) and 80% effaced, which means I'm thinned out alot. He did strip my membranes, which didn't really help Tammy's case but I'm hoping it will help mine. hehe. So basically I'm just waiting, and waiting, and waiting. :) No contractions yet at all, but I'm hoping they come quickly and my labor will be fast. My doctor does not think I will make it to 41 weeks and have to be induced so that is a good thing. I'm trying not to get my hopes up. So today after cleaning the house, going to the gym, doing laundry, and going grocery shopping maybe it will put me into labor. :) Hopefully my next post will include pictures of our cute little girl. Here's hoping!
